Meng Yi Zi (the bureaucracy of State Lu)asked Confucius/Konfuzius for the rites of Filial Piety(Click to view the full text of Filial Piety).
Confucis/Konfuzius replied him,
'Do not disobey the principle of rites in serving parents.'

Another day, Fan Chi(one of Confucius' disciples)drove for Confucius/Konfuzius. Confucius/Konfuzius sat in his gharry and said to Fan Chi,
'Meng Yi Zi asked me for the rites of Filial Piety. And I told him that do not disobey the principle of rites.'
Fan Chi asked Confucius/Konfuzius,
'What that means?'
Confucius/Konfuzius said,
'To serve parents by criterion of rites when they are alive. To bury and sacrifice them with the rules of rites after they are dead.'
